What is in the New Versions - Why the Update ?

New Series 2 Upgrade

This upgrade was developed to overcome some of the issues the Vista Operating System had created.

Plus while we were at it we enhanced some of the screens, provided ability to have a separate logo for each business, made modification to the invoices, provided the ability to print the main reports over two financial years, added the ability to select a printer when printing which now means being able to print to a pdf file. And many more amendments throughout

Old Series 1 - No Longer in Effect

Those who have version 7 will automatically jump to version 10.4 with the latest Patch.

List of updates in the version 9 Series with summary of changes and additions

Latest 9.1 update version Incorporates all the changes with 9.0 plus we have added more effects and color to the screens. This promises to be a more exciting looking interface.

Latest 9.2 update version added the ability to choose your starting Invoice and Credit Note numbers... i.e.. previously they started at Number 1, you can now have them start from whatever number you desire.

Latest 9.3 update version added the ability to automatically record between accounts payable and receivable to expenses and income. Also adding the ability to make partial payments to income against invoices. The printing process also received an overhaul allowing the user to have more control over the dates and periods selected for the printing of reports.

Latest 9.4 update version has been a minor addition to printing. Allowing every Accounts Payable or Accounts Receivable Report, to appear with an existing Account Balance. You can now also print a Partial Payments Report for an invoice, this is printed from the Partial Payments Screens of each invoice.

Latest 9.5 update version has added the ability to copy and paste between fields.

Latest 9.6 update version has added the ability of some additional features to allow the change into a new financial year more acceptable. In both the Accounts Payable and Receivable you have the ability to gather your accounts and their balances from the previous year and bring them into the new financial period, all at the click of a button.

You can now also view, print and make entries against invoices from the previous year which you are still waiting on payments. Most Accounting Programs will require you to print the invoices or jump back and forth between financial periods, so this is another first for TaxGst, it saves you time, and of course it saves you unnecessary stress.

In 9.6 we also made various changes to sorting and minor adjustments to make your experience even more exciting.

Latest 9.7 update enhances the ability to print separate reports with more user control, enabling you to obtain specific snap shots of your accounts... The reports have also updated with extra enhancements, allowing you to view totals at the top of every printed expense and income report.

The main screen now provides an automatic assessment of gross profit in relation to income and expenses, giving you a permanent running tally without having to print specific reports.. We also updated the "get" button on the accounts pay and receive to allow the user a choice of bring forward the account names into a new financial year, with or without the previous account balances.

Latest 9.8 update completes the series 9 versions, and enables features not previously available.

We enhanced the Invoicing process, with the ability to allow you the client to add a company logo to your invoices. Also allowing you to add a standard response to all clients when invoicing.

Enhanced security which allows you to add password to the software, which will prevent unwarranted access to the information. This is especially useful for the home office, whom share the computer access with children.

Color - wow this is something our clients have been requesting. Whilst we love our green screens, we had numerous requests asking for this facility. So now you are able to change colors on most screens from the setup menu. You have a number of choices for changing color.. We suggest you play with it, if you discover you have messed it up, then simply click the default settings and everything will be returned to normal..

TaxGst V9.0 Series Enhancement

This major update enhanced Tax Gst well beyond the original release of the 7 series. Whilst a read of the enhancements don't seem huge, those who were using the version 7 and 8 have taken to the Version 9 series like ducks on water, and have provided us with wonderful support and feedback. For us personally we feel V9 almost seals the program as being in a field of its own, we have been unable to find any competition in our field as there now appears to be no-one offering anything remotely close to these abilities.

The major version 9.0 release combined V8 and 8.5 correcting a couple of minor problems at the same time as our enhancements.

Lets look at the problems first:

The first fix is really a very minor one. It was brought to our attention that one of the printouts was not completing correctly. If anyone had a need to issue a Credit Note it would print with a minor fault. The printout would print saying "Total of Amount Refundin", when it should say "Total of Amount Refunding". Whilst it would look fine on the screen the printed copy dropped the last letter, so we fixed this with this update.

Its great to see that most of our users don't need to issue credit notes, as this problem must have existed from the first writing of the software. So keep up the great work and keep your profits coming.
The second fix is to change the effects of the software between different screen resolutions. The software was designed to run on 800 x 600 screen pixels, so it would appear of center on smaller fonts, for example 1024 x768 screen pixels

We had a chance to change this, and we feel it will be welcomed by our users, so we inserted the necessary code so the software changes its sizing to suit the resolution being used. I personally use 1024 x 768, so now it appears larger and takes up the full screen.

Lets discuss the Function Change:

With TaxGst Accounting you can run more than one business or accounts profile at the same time. We also allow you to go back in time and view previous years with everything as it was, even the old address of your business (if you moved for example)
Every time you changed to a new Financial Year you would also have to insert all the address details, sales tax number etc into the system before the invoice would print with the information included. I was aware of this and it didn't bother me as I knew to change this each year.
However, several clients have informed us that they have mistakenly issued invoices without all the information, being unaware of the requirement to update each year. So you could imagine the confusion and to tell you the truth, they were very pissed of.
So ok, we found a way to keep our flexibility whilst allowing the previous Address and other details to come forward into the new financial year.
There is a small catch, but this will most likely never be any real issue, but we should point it out. The system will remember what year you we last working on, and will use the details from that year when creating a NEW Financial Year.
This is what happens, let say its 2008 and tomorrow is the beginning of the 2009 financial year. You start the day and click to jump to the next year, the system will then record that you previously we in the 2008 financial year and will automatically copy all those address details into the new year. Which is exactly what you want?
But if for example you for whatever reason at that point in time suddenly jumped back to a previous year, for example 2007 to review something, and then decide to now create the 2009 Financial Year, it will copy all those details from the 2007 year into 2009 as that was the last year you were in. So if any details between 2007 and 2008 were changed you will have to go into the address section and make the changed manually to the 2009 settings. It is a minor catch, and will most likely never catch anyone out. Always make sure you are in the current financial year before creating the next.

Lets discuss the Enhancement:

First Enhancement : This is very small and goes hand in hand with the screen pixel changes. We simply changed the background of the main screen and a couple of the pop up boxes. Its a very small change but we wanted to change the way it appeared, we hope it looks ok on your monitor, we tested it on numerous monitors and tried to get a happy medium.

However you will need a screen settings of at least 24 bit. This should not be much of a problem in the year 2007 as all modern pc's and monitors are capable of 32 bit. If the program opens up with what appears to be a series of rectangle lines of colors across the screen, then check your settings. You may need to install your video drivers, or simply change the screen setting to a min of 24bit.

On most pc's you can accomplish this by simply right clicking anywhere on your desktop (not on an icon), going down and left click on properties, click settings, check the Color Quality and change it to a min of 24bit

If your computer is unable to handle this change and you don't like looking at the bars across the screen you can change it back. Simply go to the Setup Menu and click "Change to 16 bit Screen Settings". You can always change the effects back to 24bit at any time by following this same procedure.

Second Enhancement : I don't know if we can call this an enhancement, maybe its a fix. Anyway here it is.

Whilst we have always maintained that this program could be used in many countries, and we have allowed a generous trial period so you can establish if it meets your personal requirement, we failed to allow a change to the Name of the Sales Tax. The screens and reports were issued with the letters "GST".

But Version 9 solves this, you are now able to change the name of the Sales Tax by clicking on the Setup button and clicking "Change Name of Sales Tax". You are allowed up to 3 letters, eg GST, VAT, HST etc...

Once you make this change it will change all your reports and invoices etc... But it will only change the appearance on the main screens, which is where you want it anyway. Most of the Help screens for example may still discuss and show this tax as GST.
