Accounting for Sales Tax TaxGst Installation and Setup

Quick steps to assist with the installation and setup of your TaxGst Accounting and Bookkeeping Software.

With TaxGst it is simple to change the Name and Rate of the Sales Tax.

Installation:

Installation of the TaxGst Accounting Software is very straight forward... First you need to download the software from our download page. You install the software by double clicking (usually with the left mouse button) on the file once it's been downloaded. This will instruct your operating system to run the exe file and carry out the instructions to install the software.

You will be presented with a number of pop up boxes, simply follow all the prompts. Install the software into the directory suggested, and always select the "Typical Installation" when asked. Once you have installed the software, it can located via the "Start" Menu in the usual manner..

 

 

The First Steps after Installation:

After you have installed the software, you need to setup the program with your personal details. These include you Address Details, Sales Tax Percentages, Name of Sales Tax.

 

Address Details:

To setup your address, phone number and other items for use on your invoices and quotes etc..

Click on the "Setup" Icon on the Main Menu Screen

 
Got to the heading labeled General, Click on the Icon that says "Edit Address Details and Business Name"
 
This screen is self explanetory, simply fill in the boxes - Remember that these details are mainly used for Invoices
 

 

 

Sales Tax Percentage:

To change the Default Percentage Ratet, follow these steps:

Click on the "Setup" Icon on the Main Menu Screen

 
Under the Sales Tax Heading, Click on the Icon that says "Change Default Rate of Sales Tax"
 
Enter the new rate of Sales Tax, and click the ok button.
 

 

 

Name of Sales Tax:

To change the Default Name given to the Sales Tax, follow these steps:

Click on the "Setup" Icon on the Main Menu Screen

 
Under the Sales Tax Heading, Click on the Icon that says "Change Name of Sales Tax"
 
Enter the new name, you can enter up to 3 letters for this name.. eg.. Vat - Gst - Pst
 

 

 

 

 

If you are using TaxGst[2]

If your country has two forms of Sales Tax, you many want to check if your installation is set to handle 2 forms of Sales Tax on goods or services. By default TaxGst[2] should have installed with this activated, but it may be worth checking.

Follow the steps below, as if you were going to edit the address details. In the same location where you edit your address information you have an option to select 2 forms of Sales Tax on Goods or Services.

2 Types of Sales Tax:

Click on the "Setup" Icon on the Main Menu Screen

 
Click on the Icon that says "Edit Address Details and Business Name"
 
2 Tax System = 2 Forms of Sales Tax
 

if you system already say's "2 Tax System", then you are ok.. If not its only a click of the mouse to change.

 

 

Your initial Setup is now complete.

We suggest that you familarise yourself with those items which are accessed via the setup menu. If you like, it would even be a great idea to click on each of these icons and look at the contents of these areas. You cant hurt anything, simply click the cancel or close button to exist out of these screens. This may help you with becoming more confident with our software, whilst providing yourself with an overview of the types of settings and changes that are available to you.

Remember with TaxGst Accounting, every screen has a "help" icon... We suggest that you click on these icons to familiarise yourself with the program, especially in the early days.
